Example of Origin Myth Paragraph. Use your own words!!

Stories about the beginning of the world are called origin myths. These myths show the values of the culture that tells them. Two examples of this story are, “How the World was Made” from the Cheyenne of North America and “In the Beginning” from the Hebrew Bible. In the Cheyenne story, the creator, Maheo, can make four things by himself, but needs help to make the earth. ADD EXAMPLES HERE. This shows us that the Cheyenne value BLANK and BLANK.  In the Hebrew story, God needs no help. He creates everything himself. He also gives humans responsibilities and rules to follow. ADD EXAMPLES HERE.  This shows that the Hebrews value BLANK AND BLANK. While these stories have many similarities, their differences show us the values of that culture.

ECP: This paragraph, properly formatted should be between a page and a page and a half long.

Who determined these stories are true? No one. Some people believe these to be true, others do not. We are not here to judge, only study these stories as literature and see what they can tell us about who we are as humans.

Why are origin myths so important? I will quote from Wikipedia: " Creation myths address questions deeply meaningful to the society that shares them, revealing their central worldview and the framework for the self-identity of the culture and individual in a universal context.[12]" I don't think I could say it any better than that!
